Our team

We're experienced engineers who've been delivering sustainable and renewable energy projects for over 25 years. We work together on every project, combining our expertise in technical design, project management, and business case development to give you solutions that work in the real world.

    Mike Foley

    Founder

    Mike is an experienced energy manager  and Member of the Energy Institute with over 40 years' experience delivering low-emissions technologies, including battery storage, solar PV, biofuel, and waste-to-energy solutions.

    He founded The Energy Practice in 2000, which he grew and ultimately sold to Suffolk County Council in 2016. Since then, he's been working on projects across the UK—from biofuel CHP remediation at Cramlington Hospital to solar PV projects for commercial estates and waste-to-energy technologies.

    Mike brings deep technical knowledge and hands-on project delivery experience to every project.

    Rupert Blackstone

    Renewable Energy Manager

    Rupert is a chartered engineer with over 25 years' experience delivering renewable energy projects and helping organisations develop and implement technical strategies to reach Net Zero.

    His expertise spans renewable energy technologies, energy system design, greenhouse gas emissions reporting, and Net Zero planning. Whether it's heat pumps, solar PV, wind, or biofuel, Rupert brings rigorous technical analysis and practical delivery experience to every project.

    Rupert has worked on projects ranging from building decarbonisation strategies for NHS trusts to multi-site Net Zero roadmaps for commercial estates.
